MOTION GRAPHICS     CAMPAIGN IDENTITY     AUGMENTED REALITY

THE PROBLEM

Visual plagiarism is copying or relying too heavily on pre-existing visual works. The lines of plagiarism can easily be blurred due to manipulation and borrowing of visuals. Artists and designers don’t get the credit and recognition they deserve while artists, designers and students take their work and ideas as their own. Students are often unaware that they are plagiarising at all.

THE BRIEF

The brief was to design an awareness campaign that educates students about visual plagiarism and how to avoid it. This involves developing 6 motion graphics of 30 seconds each and an augmented reality experience that can be posted on a platform of choice with a coherent campaign identity.

THE SOLUTION

The solution is a campaign, ‘Be Bright Reference Right’, A series of six episodes that are displayed on a student portal. Each episode shows how to reference images according to the Creative Commons guidelines. These are accompanied by an augmented reality quiz on the correct referencing.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

Design and applied arts students.

IDEA GENERATION PROCESS

inspiration

THE INSPIRATION STATION

This is where art and design students look to the work of other designers and artists to help them generate ideas. If not done correctly, the student may be found plagiarizing.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS MACHINE

This is the process by which art and design students create their own work. If they use the work of another designer, they must give credit according to the Creative Commons guidelines.

AUGMENTED REALITY

This augmented reality experience is a quiz on attribution. There are questions on each pillar, and the design is reminiscent of a game show. When the user presses the buzzer while thinking of the right response, the solution appears in the corres lightbulb.
